Guestbook

Share your favorite Stuckey’s memory! Our guestbook is your opportunity to share those experiences with others.

Just about everybody has a Stuckey‘s story, recalling a time when they took road trips in the family station wagon and found “highway happiness” at one of our stores.

We would love to hear your most fond memories from yesterday or today, and we know others would love to share in your experiences as well. Please take a moment or two and post your comments in our guestbook.

Stuckeys is a name that will forever stick in my mind. I will never forget my parents stopping at a Stuckeys when we were traveling up and down the east coast when I was a child. Salt water taffy, pecan log rolls and hot dogs. Those were great times and memories. To this day i still talk about Stuckys with friends and family. Thank you for the great memories.

I traveled for twenty-six years with my late husband, singer/songwriter Nat Stuckey. We stopped at many Stuckey stores to load up on goodies. We were always treated so well and everyone on the bus oved the goodies. Thanks for being there!

Back in the 1970s I camped across the USA. During my travels I came upon a Stuckey's store! That's how I got hooked on Stuckey's! I fell in love with the log rolls. The rest is history! Wherever I traveled across the USA I would try to find a Stuckey's, even if it was miles out of my way I would go. Sometimes I would take a picture to save for nostalgia. Always I would get back on the road with a sweet treat to keep me happy. If I could buy a shirt on hat, I would do that... Read more

Once I was on a train trip across Texas and I was looking at the scenery out the big window. In the distance I saw a Stuckey's sign. I got so excited! Although I couldn't visit that store because I was on the train, it still gave me some happy memories and made me smile. I hope that Stuckey's stays in business for a long time and I hope I'll see the Stuckey's sign again soon in my travels.... Collapse

When I was growing up in the 1960's and 1970's we would go every summer to either my grandma's in Saskatchewan or my grandma's in Kansas from our home in California. This meant Route 66 when we headed to Yates Center, KS and always a stop at the Stuckey's along the way. It's a part of my childhood I loved. A hot dog, a candy bar, pit stop for gas and bathroom break. The truck stops now don't have the charm of the Stuckey's.

I loved Stuckey’s when I was a kid. I always wanted to stop there when we traveled back to visit relatives in PA. I loved the pecan logs. In 1980, when I was in Plebe Summer at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD, my Mom sent me a care package with probably 10 pecan logs inside the box. My roommate and I completely devoured all of them in about an hour. I got so sick that I didn’t eat one for several years after that. Now, I enjoy them (in moderation) but each time I have one I think about... Read more

Isn’t it amazing how a taste, a texture, or a name can bring back a flood of long forgotten memories? This is the case when I found a package of Stuckey’s Toasted Pecans on the shelf of my local Ingles grocery store. My memories of Stuckey’s go back more than 60 years. I grew up in Vermont. For spring break my family made an annual trip to Florida to escape the long winter. Dad was determined to get to the warmer destination as soon as possible so he opted to travel US Highway 301. For spring break my family made an annual trip to Florida to escape the long winter. Dad was determined to get to the warmer destination as soon as possible so he opted to travel US Highway 301. This was when the Interstate Highway system was in its infancy and under construction. One thing we looked forward to once we got to Virginia were the billboards promoting the next Stuckey’s. It was a great place to take a break, fuel up, and have lunch. I believe Stuckey’s is where I began my fascination with the War Between the States. It was not a subject taught in Vermont schools. To this day I remember perusing the gift aisle of Civil War memorabilia of such items as felt kepi hats. Then there was the trick and gimmick display of such things as the bug in the acrylic ice cube, the hand shake buzzer, and the x-ray glasses. Oh, the joy of being a practical joker. The further south we got the merchandise selection changed to stuffed alligators and the most beautiful selection of sea shells. Lunch was a treat and a good time to stretch legs and cool off. The little batwing vent windows couldn’t always keep up with the road heat. Reaching the Florida State Line meant fresh squeezed orange juice and an egg salad sandwich packaged in a clear plastic triangular box. Desert would be a pecan praline. To this day I have weakness for pralines. Thank you for continuing the tradition of the Stuckey's name. Stuckey’s is part of Roadside Americana.... Collapse

As a kid, I remember seeing the Stuckey signs and stopping often at a Stuckey's store to buy a log roll or eat food. I am connected to Stephanie Stuckey on LinkedIn and read her postings. She is an amazing person and I am certain Stuckey's will be hugely successful.

In the 80s my grandpa and I would drive from Los Angeles CA to Fort Worth Texas. We did this almost every summer. Off the 10 freeway the first thing you see is the sign for Stuckeys. Big, yellow and red sign. With a picture of some perfectly cooked eggs and bacon. "5 more miles to Stuckeys". There were many Stuckeys back then along that fwy. I became a bit obsessed and asked my grandpa to stop at almost every one we came across during those 3 day trips. We both would yell "Stuckeys!", stop and eat. Your French toast... Read more

Your French toast back then was SO good. It was my go to meal for every meal. After eating we would brouse the gift shop and grandpa always made sure I left with something. Usually a small piece of candy or a snack for the road. He knew how much I liked Stuckeys and stopped whenever I asked. These are some of the best memories I have of my grandpa, whom I still miss dearly. Thank you for the memories Stuckeys. I hope to have your French Toast again someday.... Collapse

I love watching Stephanie’s posts as she travels around gathering up history of Stuckey’s and getting products back in the stores. I had all but forgotten that pecan roll that was a must have by my Mom as we traveled every summer. She loved them so much she convinced my Dad to buy boxes of them to take back home (to Southern Indiana) to tie them over and satisfy their sweet tooth until their next trip. Farm kid and a huge family. Dad would take us on a road trip to visit the Grand folks. New Mexico to AZ. Long hot and bored in the family Chevrolet. We would stop at Every Stuckey‘s to get Candy, Pecan logs and cute Gifts. The highlight of our trip. Big bags of powered fruit punch for later. I miss Stuckey’s and when I see that shape of that building, even now it feels me with happy nostalgia. Sure wish they were back in our State! Kids just don’t have the same vacation that we did back then!

Growing up in Virginia every summer we drove to 18 hour drive to Mississippi to see extended family. The highlight of the adventure was stopping at Stuckey’s. I new where all of them were on our journey. I would ask my father how much further to the next Stuckey’s his reply was usually “4 Lassie Shows” that was the way I measured time- 😀. So many great memories stopping at many of the Stuckey’s in the Deep South with my parents and younger brother. Thank you Stephanie Stuckey for saving the family business. Such a fun story to follow.
