When we were kids, we drove from San Antonio to St. Louis frequently to visit family. The overwhelming highlight of the trip was the pecan log at Stuckey's. We would take I35 most of the way and I think there were at least two stores, one in Texas one in Oklahoma. For some reason I remember that you got the pecan log free with a fill up but don't know whether that is a real memory or not. I do remember we did get the candy and there was nothing better. My parents Clarence & Mary Law were both born and raised in Eastman, Dodge Co. Ga. They moved to Edgewood Md where 4 of the 5 children were born/raised. Every year our summer vacation meant loading up and traveling to Eastman to visit Grandparents mind you that this was 4 children in a vehicle on a 12/14 hour ride and my dad was not one to stop often but when we would see a Stuckey's it was like our prayers had been answered 😂 not only did we get to stretch and use their clean restroom but we were allowed... It breaks my heart to see the original store and candy plant just sitting and falling apart also one of the Stuckey homes which is absolutely gorgeous just sitting empty and deteriorating 😢! I am soo soo happy that you are bringing the Stuckey's that so many of us have such great memories of back! It’s somewhere that I hope to be able to share with my grandchildren one day when we travel and I plan on being able to share with them on how we are related and some good old divinity and pecan log rolls 🤗... We spent many days in the Stuckey’s candy plant enjoying the “samples” of all the delicious candies made. It was a fairy tale childhood and made complete because of Stuckey’s and the Stuckey family tradition. Please support Stephanie and her Stuckey family as they bring back the good old days of Stuckey’s.

As a HS student in 1968-1970, I worked in a Stuckeys store at the snack bar! It was located in the small town of New Lisbon, WI along the interstate highway system 90/94. What wonderful memories! My boyfriend (who became my husband) worked there also. We are retired now & hope to do some traveling now that COVID restrictions are easing up. Glad to hear that Stuckeys has grown again & hope to find one soon! We did not get fine china when we married....bought my Frankoma pottery dishes from our Stuckeys store so always have sweet memories!

As a child in the 70s, my immediate family did a fair amount of trips between Billings, MT, where we lived at the time, and Spokane, WA, where my folks grew up and where many in my extended family still live. Early memories included stops at either or both of the 2 Stuckey's stores that were on that leg of I-90. Stuckey's, for kids, always was a treat! Candy and/or toys from Stuckey's could be a good diversion for us kids who were missing our cousins and grandparents on our departure for home. Recently, my husband and I had to... Read more

We got married in Macon on a Saturday in September, 1966. Our original plan was to honeymoon at Jekyll Island, but our car broke down in Cochran. After a lot of worry, my father came to Cochran, loaned us his car, and towed the broken one home. It was much too late to get to Jekyll, but we did make it to Eastman, where we spent our wedding night at the Stuckey's Carriage Inn. I am 46 years old my father was a truck driver and we use to stop at stuckey's when I would ride with him during the summer my biggest thing was the pecan log roll.. brings back a lot of childhood memories..

A few families on my mothers' side moved down from E. Texas to Orange, TX during WW2 to help/work for the war effort. Mother and her cousin Roxie married 2 sailors who came in on ships. Roxie stayed in Orange after the war and mother and daddy moved to Houston. We would go to Orange when I was a child to visit. The highlight of the trips for me was getting to stop at Stuckeys and get candy. When they came to Houston, they would bring candy to us. Stuckeys will always be a part of my childhood memories.

I remember the first stop at a Stuckey's along the east coast. The Mynah bird greeted me. I wasn't older than 10 years old & the Mynah bird was total entertainment fo me. Of course, the rest of the store was quite the stop for this young kid. Mom & dad picked up some lunch, snacks & fueled the car and we were on our way. I'm sure the Mynah bird never forgot me!

I remember going in Stuckeys as a teenager and they had a talking bird......Years later The Thielmans gave out log rolls at Halloween..Cars would be lined up as far as you could see..We always bought our Grandaddy the Coconut patties and a giant peppermint stick for Christmas

It brings back suck great memories, a time of America and just good place. My sister and I would beg our parents for candy. To me Stuckey’s is America like apple pie.

Or if they needed an interim manager until one was hired, which we trained as well. It was fun, we traveled a lot - Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas- and learned a lot about running a business.
