When we were kids, we drove from San Antonio to St. Louis frequently to visit family. The overwhelming highlight of the trip was the pecan log at Stuckey's. We would take I35 most of the way and I think there were at least two stores, one in Texas one in Oklahoma. For some reason I remember that you got the pecan log free with a fill up but don't know whether that is a real memory or not. I do remember we did get the candy and there was nothing better.
