Stuckey’s Expands with New President and Healthy Pecan Product Line
Acquisition launches new partnership to make the pecan America’s favorite snack nut

EASTMAN, GA—SEPT. 2, 2020—Stuckey’s, famous for its delicious pecan log roll, candies and roadside outlets since 1937, is making a bold move into the fast-growing business of healthy snacks.

Stephanie Stuckey, CEO of Stuckey’s Corporation (“Stuckey’s”), today announced expansion of their management team with the merger and acquisition of Front Porch Pecans. Stuckey’s will remain the parent corporation headquartered in Atlanta. Robert Gainer “RG” Lamar, Jr., founder of Front Porch Pecans, will assume the role of President of Stuckey’s.

“I’m thrilled that RG will be jointly running Stuckey’s with me,” says Stephanie. “He brings a wealth of expertise about pecan markets, plus a fresh perspective on how we can introduce our brand to a younger demographic. This merger aligns well with our strategic growth plan to add healthier nut options and adapt to changing consumer tastes.”

Stuckey’s has almost 20 stand-alone brick-and-mortar locations and more than 50 Stuckey’s express, or store-within-a-store, locations primarily in the Southeast and Texas. The company is wholesale distributor for these outlets and the exclusive provider of Stuckey’s branded products, including t-shirts, mugs, hats, and its world-famous pecan log roll.

Front Porch Pecans, based in Hawkinsville, Georgia, was founded in 2015 and sells a variety of pecan snack flavors, including BBQ, maple, and sea salt. These products are available for sale in numerous retailers including Publix, Wegman’s, Food City, and others.

RG is a leader in the pecan industry. He serves as Vice Chairman of the Georgia Pecan Commission and was formerly Vice President of the Georgia Pecan Growers Association. RG has frequently represented Georgia on trade missions to expand pecan markets globally.  “I look forward to introducing Stuckey’s to a new generation of customers. We have aggressive plans to expand our store locations, enhance our production capacity, and build our customer base, including domestic and foreign markets,” says RG of the merger.

Stuckey’s and Front Porch Pecans are both family-owned businesses that have known each other for decades. Lamar Pecans has long operated the Stuckey pecan orchard in Eastman where the roadside chain was founded. “RG and I both have deep roots in Georgia’s red clay soil. We share a love of the land and the South.  We’re excited to embark on a mission to make the pecan America’s favorite snack nut.”

Stuckey’s was founded by W.S. “Sylvester” Stuckey, Sr. as a pecan stand along Highway 1 in Eastman, Georgia in 1937. Through hard work and grit, Stuckey’s grew into a roadside empire that numbered over 300 stores in the 1970’s, with the familiar teal sloped roof and “Refresh-Relax-Refuel” billboards dotting the nation’s highways. The stores fell out of family hands for decades but were reacquired by Billy Stuckey, son of the founder and former U.S. Congressman, in 1985.
